No Fail Spicy Green Beans

This is my honey's favorite way to eat vegetables.  I made them tonight for him while he made a perfectly grilled ribeye.  When I first started making these green beans, I would buy fresh, raw beans.  With these, you have to trim the tips, blanch in very salty water, then soak in ice water to preserve color and crispyness.  While this chore isn't so bad on a Saturday afternoon, I refuse to go through all this work on a week night.  Instead, I buy the frozen steamer bag (the beans are already blanched and have no preservatives added).  This eliminates so much work and the end result tastes the same!!!

Ingredients

1 bag steamers green beans
1 tablespoon extra virgin oil
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 garlic clove minced
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Cook the green beans according to package directions(microwave).  Let sit in bag for a few minutes then drain all water from the beans.  Meanwhile, in a saute pan over medium high heat, add olive oil, butter, garlic and red pepper flakes.  Cook for a little over a minute.  Add the green beans and crank heat to high.  Add salt and pepper, and saute, stiring frequently (I toss with tongs) for another 3 to five minutes.  Turn off heat and serve this yummy, spicy vegetable with whatever your little heart desires!

Let me know what you think!
